How to use USWDS

Now that you’ve gotten started, the following resources are available to help you stay in touch, to provide support as you continue with your projects, and to enable you to provide recommendations and feedback.
Need installation help?
For installation, configuration, customization, or usage questions, ask in Discussions Q&A. Include what you tried and your USWDS version when relevant. If you are unsure whether something is a bug, start in Q&A.
For a reproducible problem in USWDS, including an accessibility defect, file a bug report. You do not need to know the cause or have a fix to report it.

USWDS is supported by an active, open-source community of engineers, content specialists, and designers.

Contribute to the codebase
For complete instructions on how to contribute code, please read CONTRIBUTING.md. These instructions also include guidance on how to set up your own copy of the design system style guide website for development.
If you would like to learn more about how we work, check out the Workflow and Issue label Glossary pages on our wiki.
Choose the place that matches your contribution:
- Discussions Q&A — Ask about implementation or the contribution process.
- Issues — Report bugs or request concrete enhancements to existing functionality.
- Ideas — Explore early suggestions and tradeoffs.
- Proposals — Propose new components or patterns.
- Documentation website issues — Report incorrect documentation, broken links, or problems with designsystem.digital.gov.
- Security policy — Follow the reporting instructions for potential vulnerabilities.
If a question was filed as an issue, a maintainer can help move the conversation. You do not need to re-file it. If a discussion identifies implementation work, we can create a linked issue.
